VeloVino Tours – The Distinct Difference
Tours & Pricing 2016/17

All of our tours are Private – your group, your day. Whether your party is 1 or 5 people, you will always have both a driver and a guide, for the ultimate in personal attention and service.
Each VeloVino tour is Unique – just like our guests. Although we start the day with a planned itinerary, we can customise the day to your liking, based on our knowledge and experience.

PRICING FOR ALL TOURS: $1200 for 2ppl (all prices NZD)

All tours include pick up & drop off from accommodation, café or vineyard restaurant lunch, afternoon gourmet picnic, all winery tasting fees, and if cycling also – bike, helmet, hi-vis vest, gloves and water bottle. All tours approximately 7 hours.
Each additional person in your group: $200

Afternoon Gourmet Picnic – Included on every tour, and we don’t mean a banana and a granola bar!  Cloth linens and crystal glassware serve as a palette for exquisite local artisan cheese, sourdough bread & olive oil, Juliane’s famous homemade cookies(!), and of course, a bottle of Nelson wine.  Other beverages also available.

Wine Aficionado Tasting: $175 for 2ppl.  $50 each additional person
This add-on comprises about 1.5 hours of your 7 hour tour.

This is a regional sit-down tasting for the wine enthusiast. New Zealand has 10 distinct wine regions, and this bespoke experience gives you the opportunity to compare and contrast how regional differences showcase themselves within a particular wine variety.

Choosing one varietal from the list below, you will be hosted at a private, scenic outdoor setting where you will taste 4 top-tier wines from the various regions while enjoying your afternoon picnic. This is a relaxed, unpretentious tasting designed to be educational as well as fun. Wines personally selected by Juliane will be from the top wineries of their respective area. Varietals (choose one): Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or Pinot Noir.

Winery Tour

The freedom of a full-day wine tour allows us to explore in-depth the beauty of the region and the range of varietals produced here. We will linger among the vines, share the winemaking process in a quiet cellar door, and perhaps enjoy a sip alongside the winemaker.
The two Nelson wine sub-regions, the Plains & the Moutere Hills, are home to 25 family-owned boutique wineries that are winning awards and accolades for their crisp chardonnays, perfumed gewurztraminers and lush pinot noirs. Glenn will be your driver and Juliane, with many years experience as a wine industry professional, will taste with you and guide you through the process.

Cycle Tour

The Nelson region has an abundance of cycle routes, from The Great Taste Trail with its diverse terrain & beachside views, to the river valley trails with gently rolling hills and mountain backdrops. Your ride is fully guided by Glenn, who will share the history of the region, its foliage and fauna, as well as giving you plenty of stops for photo opportunities. The VeloVino support van is always near by, allowing a tired guest to hop in and relax while the rest of the group continues cycling. Your imported bike is a high quality, lightweight carbon frame hybrid with up to 27 speeds, making for a safe & comfortable ride.

Wheel & Wine Tour

Enjoy cycling and wine? Our most popular tour encompasses the best of both activities. Your day starts with a fully guided bike tour, at your pace and your distance. Having built up an appetite, you will savour a relaxing lunch at a local café or vineyard restaurant and then drive in the van to a few of our favorite wineries that offer unique kiwi personalities and wine styles.

Design your Day Tour

Our newest tour is the most flexible, allowing you to choose from the three activities – Cycling, Wine tasting or Art, to design a day that suits you. For the art collector, or just the art curious, the “Top of the South” is widely recognised as a hub for artists who work in a wide range of mediums. The following are only two examples of how we can tailor the day for you:

Example 1:

– Greet the sunny Nelson morning with a fully-guided cycle tour on The Great Taste Trail. After a hearty café lunch, enjoy wandering through a sculpture garden or viewing paintings by local artists, and finish your day relaxing and tasting at a winery with an expansive view.

Example 2:

– Visit a few artists studios in the morning – sculpture, painting and pottery are just a few of your choices. Lunch at a local café or vineyard restaurant will set up your afternoon for a tasting at three of Nelsons boutique wineries.
